White House Criticizes Nobel Committee for Overlooking Trump's Peace Initiatives Amid Machado's Award

The White House has criticized the Nobel Peace Prize Committee for allegedly ignoring President Donald Trump's contributions to global peace after Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado received the 2025 award. Communications Director Steven Cheung claimed the committee prioritized politics over peace, while Trump thanked Russian President Putin for recognizing his efforts in resolving longstanding international conflicts, including alleged mediation between India and Pakistan.

US Slams Nobel Committee For Ignoring Trump's Global Peace Efforts

The White House has expressed strong disapproval of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, claiming they disregarded President Donald Trump's substantial contributions to worldwide peace efforts. This criticism comes amid Trump's persistent pursuit of the prestigious award, often based on claims that have been questioned for accuracy, including his statements about easing tensions between India and Pakistan.

White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung stated on social media, "The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace," shortly after Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado was announced as the recipient of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.

Cheung further commented that Trump "will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will."

Following Cheung's remarks, Trump took to social media to thank Russian President Vladimir Putin for acknowledging his peace initiatives despite not receiving a Nobel Prize. "Thank you to President Putin!" Trump wrote.

When questioned by reporters in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Putin noted that Trump is actively working to resolve complex crises that have persisted for years and even decades.

In another social media post, Trump reshared Machado's recognition of him without adding any personal comments.

Machado expressed her appreciation for Trump's "decisive support" on social media, dedicating the prestigious award to both the U.S. president and the Venezuelan people.

"This recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom. We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy.

"I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!" she wrote.

According to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Machado received the award for her "tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy."

Trump has frequently claimed credit for facilitating peace agreements, most notably the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations.

The U.S. President has repeatedly asserted that he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for resolving "eight wars," including the recent military conflict between India and Pakistan.

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that resulted in 26 civilian casualties.

India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10 to end the conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes.

India has consistently maintained that the agreement on cessation of hostilities with Pakistan was achieved through direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both militaries.

Trump has stated multiple times that during his second administration, he has resolved several conflicts, including those between India and Pakistan, Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, the Congo and Rwanda, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Armenia and Azerbaijan.
