Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Claims Responsibility for Multiple Restaurant Shootings in Canada

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for shooting incidents at three Ustaad G76 restaurant locations in Surrey, Canada. Gang member Goldie Dhillon posted on Facebook stating the attacks were retaliation against the restaurant owner for alleged mistreatment of employees. This follows Canada's recent designation of the Bishnoi gang as a terrorist entity, amid escalating gang-related extortion incidents targeting Indo-Canadian businesses.

Canadian authorities have launched a coordinated response against the growing wave of extortion incidents across the country.

New Delhi:

Lawrence Bishnoi's criminal organization has taken responsibility for a series of recent shootings in Canada. The latest attacks targeted multiple establishments of a restaurant owner in Surrey. Goldie Dhillon, who identifies as a Bishnoi associate, stated that he ordered attacks on three locations of an Indian restaurant chain in Surrey, British Columbia.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Dhillon alleged that the restaurant chain owner mistreated employees and failed to pay salaries on schedule.

"Anyone who does such things will face the same consequences," warned the gang member.

Police in Surrey confirmed that shots were fired at the Ustaad G76 Indian restaurant on King George Boulevard in South Surrey and at another Ustaad G76 location in Newton on Monday. According to Dhillon's social media post, a third shooting occurred at the restaurant's outlet on Lougheed Highway.

Authorities verified that gunshot damage was visible on the exteriors of the buildings, though no injuries were reported. The establishments were closed during the incidents with no staff present inside, according to police.

Footage of one shooting has circulated on social media platforms, showing individuals firing at a restaurant outlet during nighttime hours. Reports indicate the chain is owned by Sanjay Bajaj.

Canadian authorities have implemented a multi-agency initiative to combat the rising extortion problem in the country.

This incident follows another recent shooting claimed by the Bishnoi gang. On October 6, gang member Fateh Portugal shared videos claiming responsibility for three shootings targeting properties connected to businessman Navi Tesi (also known as Navi Dhesi).

Portugal accused Tesi of extorting $5 million from people while using the Bishnoi name. Police have stated they are investigating these claims and have warned against spreading online threats.

Last month, Canada officially designated the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terrorist entity. This classification elevated Lawrence Bishnoi, currently imprisoned in Gujarat, from being considered one of India's most notorious crime bosses to an internationally wanted criminal kingpin.
