Deadly Shooting at Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in Texas: 2 Dead, 5 Injured, Suspect in Custody

Law enforcement officials were working on Monday to establish the motive behind a shooting incident that occurred in the parking area of a casino in a Texas border town during the weekend, resulting in two fatalities and at least five injuries.

Authorities apprehended 34-year-old Keryan Rashad Jones during a traffic stop several hours following the shooting that took place late Saturday night at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino located in Eagle Pass.

Jones was taken into custody Sunday morning after a chase with law enforcement near Stockdale, approximately 180 miles (290 kilometers) east of Eagle Pass, according to information provided by the Wilson County Sheriff's Office.

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber stated that Jones faces charges including two counts of capital murder and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Information regarding Jones' current detention location and legal representation was not immediately available.

Lieutenant Christopher Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that investigators are still working to determine what prompted the shooting.

The Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas Police Department, which is heading the investigation, announced that the casino will remain closed while the investigation proceeds.
