President Trump expressed caution following Israel's unprecedented attack on Doha.
United States:
Following Israel's airstrike against Hamas leaders in Qatar last week, US President Donald Trump delivered measured comments Sunday as tensions escalate between two of Washington's key Middle Eastern allies.
"Qatar has been a very great ally. Israel and everyone else, we have to be careful. When we attack people we have to be careful," Trump stated when speaking to reporters.
Earlier, Trump had criticized Israel for Tuesday's unprecedented military action in Doha, where mediators from both Israel and Hamas have been engaged in negotiations to end the Gaza conflict.
The strike has led Arab and Muslim leaders, including Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, to convene in Doha in a display of solidarity. During this gathering, Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani called on the international community to "stop using double standards" and hold Israel accountable.
The Israeli operation in the gulf nation's capital resulted in the deaths of five Hamas members and one Qatari security officer.
Qatar is home to the largest American military installation in the region.
