India Offers Support for Peace Restoration in Ukraine and Gaza: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar Addresses UN General Assembly

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar delivered a compelling address at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, emphasizing India's stance on global conflicts.

On Saturday, India issued a strong call for cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and Gaza, while offering its full support for peace restoration initiatives.

"Each individual has the opportunity to contribute to peace and prosperity. Regarding conflicts, particularly in Ukraine and Gaza, even nations not directly involved have experienced their consequences," stated External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during his address to the General Debate at the 80th UN General Assembly session.

Speaking from the renowned podium in the UN General Assembly hall before world leaders, Jaishankar emphasized that countries capable of engaging with all parties must "intensify their efforts in the search for solutions."

"India urges an end to hostilities and stands ready to support any initiative aimed at restoring peace," he declared.

Jaishankar highlighted that while two major conflicts continue in Ukraine and West Asia, countless other global hotspots fail to receive media attention. "Energy and food security have become the immediate casualties of conflict and disruption, especially since 2022. Wealthier societies protected themselves by securing priority access, while resource-constrained nations struggled to survive, only to face condescending lectures afterward," he remarked.
