Conservative Activist's Alleged Killer Shared Home With Transgender Roommate Now Aiding Investigation
The 22-year-old suspect in conservative commentator Charlie Kirk's shooting was residing with a transgender individual who is currently assisting federal investigators, law enforcement sources revealed Saturday. Lance Twiggs, 22, undergoing male-to-female transition, is fully collaborating with FBI officials examining the fatal attack.
Records confirm Twiggs and Tyler Robinson, the accused shooter, shared living quarters. When contacted by The NY Post, a family member of Twiggs verified, "yes, they were roommates."
Speaking anonymously, the relative described Twiggs as the family's "black sheep" but wouldn't comment on whether the relationship was romantic. The family member lacked knowledge about Twiggs's political stance or transition details but added that nothing "would surprise me."
Investigators noted the roommate's assistance has provided crucial evidence. Communications shared with authorities included discussions about matching bullet casings and directions for retrieving a weapon from a concealed location.
Kirk, 31, was fatally shot following a question about transgender mass shooters during his campus speaking event "American Comeback." Shell casings found at Utah Valley University contained inscriptions reading "Hey fascist, catch." The shots originated approximately 200 yards away from where investigators later discovered a .30-06-caliber Mauser bolt-action rifle wrapped in a towel among trees.
"Messages from contact Tyler also mention that he had changed outfits," the affidavit states.
Kirk regularly voiced opposition to the "LGBTQ agenda" and criticized gender-reassignment procedures.
Robinson surrendered himself after confrontations with his father and discussions with a youth minister.
Investigators continue examining possible motivations, exploring "every link, every group" connected to the incident. Though raised in a predominantly conservative Mormon household without registration to major political parties, Robinson apparently adopted far-left ideologies in recent years.
Officials have characterized the shooting as a "political assassination."
