Trump and his former 'first buddy', Musk, reunited at a memorial event for Charlie Kirk on Sunday.
Washington:
US President Donald Trump's meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk at conservative activist Charlie Kirk's memorial appears to have mended their strained relationship. Following the memorial service, the billionaire entrepreneur shared an AI-generated image of Trump, featuring the acronym 'FAFO' written on a beach. This acronym stands for "F**k Around and Find Out" - essentially warning that provocative actions may lead to negative consequences.
Musk added the caption "Cool shell formation found on beach walk" to his post.
This appears to reference the Trump administration's recent actions against former FBI director James Comey, who had previously posted a photo of shells forming "8647" with a similar caption: "Cool shell formation on my beach walk."
Musk's post quickly generated controversy, as internet users had interpreted Comey's original "86" and "47" as coded language - "86" being slang for "eliminate" and "47" referring to Trump as the 47th president of the United States.
On Thursday, the Trump administration brought charges against Comey for allegedly lying to Congress. This indictment came shortly after Trump seemingly urged his attorney general to prosecute the former FBI director and others he considers political adversaries. Comey is now the first former senior government official involved in the Russian interference investigation - which Trump has long called a "hoax" and a "witch hunt" - to face prosecution.
This criminal case has intensified concerns that the Justice Department under Attorney General Pam Bondi is being weaponized to target individuals whom the president views as enemies. The case emerges as the White House has taken unprecedented steps to influence the department, blurring traditional boundaries between law and politics at an agency where prosecutorial independence is considered fundamental.
Trump celebrated the indictment as "JUSTICE FOR AMERICA!"
Comey, who was dismissed early in Trump's first administration, has remained a primary target for Trump supporters seeking retribution related to the Russia investigation. Trump specifically named Comey in a recent social media post that appeared to directly appeal to Bondi to file charges, complaining that Justice Department investigations into his opponents had not resulted in criminal cases.
"We can't delay any longer, it's killing our reputation and credibility," Trump wrote, referencing his own past indictments and impeachments. "JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!"
Although the 'FAFO' acronym predates Trump's presidency, it has become increasingly common in White House discourse. President Trump first used it in late January during a diplomatic confrontation with Colombia over migrant planes, posting an AI-generated image of himself wearing a fedora hat alongside the acronym.
Musk, who was a close Trump advisor at that time, reshared the image with the comment, "This is awesome."
Since then, Musk has frequently incorporated the acronym in his social media communications. In April, he suggested that alleged "financers" of attacks against Tesla "will go to prison," and in another instance, declared it "FAFO time."
The Trump-Musk relationship appears to be on the mend following their public falling out. The pair was seen sitting together at Charlie Kirk's memorial service in Glendale, Arizona, where thousands gathered to honor Kirk, who was fatally shot on September 10 at a Utah university campus.
