According to predictions by renowned 16th-century French astrologer Nostradamus, Earth might experience a collision with a substantial asteroid in 2025.
Nostradamus, celebrated for his uncannily accurate forecasts, reportedly predicted a "fireball from the sky" that could either impact Earth or pass extremely close to our planet.
Earlier this month, NASA confirmed that asteroid 2025 QV9, approximately the size of an airplane, completed a close flyby of Earth on September 10, 2025. Moving at speeds exceeding 10,000 mph, it safely passed at a distance of 1.25 million miles.
The asteroid 2025 QV9 is classified among the Aten group of near-Earth objects, which regularly intersect Earth's orbit. Hundreds of asteroids pass by Earth annually, with the vast majority maintaining safe distances.
Scholars analyzing Nostradamus' writings suggest that 2025 might bring significant events, including a potential asteroid impact on Earth or a plague-like outbreak in the United Kingdom.
Nostradamus also forecast challenging times for England in 2025. His prophecies mentioned the country potentially facing violent conflicts and the emergence of an ancient plague, which he described as more devastating than external enemies.
His predictions also referenced Brazil, which he called the "Garden of the World," potentially experiencing food shortages and landslides connected to climate change.
Without specifically identifying countries, Nostradamus predicted continued warfare across a continent in 2024, though his writings indicate that 2025 might witness the conclusion of one prolonged conflict. He suggested that war fatigue could lead both sides to abandon hostilities.
"Through long war all the army exhausted, so that they do not find money for the soldiers; instead of gold or silver, they will come to coin leather, Gallic brass, and the crescent sign of the Moon," he wrote in his book.
Nevertheless, his enigmatic verses also suggest that France and Turkey might become entangled in the conflict.
Born Michel de Nostredame, Nostradamus was a French astrologer and physician who lived during the 1500s. He is credited with predicting numerous major events, including Adolf Hitler's rise to power, the September 11 attacks, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is primarily known for his book Les Propheties (The Prophecies), published in 1555, containing 942 poetic quatrains widely interpreted as predictions of global events.
