Khalistani terrorist Inderjeet Singh Gosal has been released on bail merely a week following his arrest in Canada. Immediately upon his release, Gosal and his associate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun issued threats directed at India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. Footage obtained by NDTV shows Gosal exiting Ontario Central East Correctional Centre, where he proclaimed his freedom and declared his intention to support Pannun's self-styled Khalistan movement.
"India, I'm out; to support Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, to organise the Khalistan referendum on November 23, 2025. Delhi banega Khalistan," Gosal stated in the video.
Pannun directly challenged India's NSA with the statement: "Ajit Doval, why don't you come to Canada, America or any European country and try to arrest or do any extradition. Doval, I am waiting for you."
Pannun, who leads the proscribed organization Sikhs For Justice, faces charges for undermining India's sovereignty after offering an 11 crore rupee reward to anyone preventing the flag hoisting ceremony at Red Fort during Independence Day celebrations.
Gosal's Arrest
Following Hardeep Singh Nijjar's death in 2023, Gosal assumed the role of Canada organizer for SFJ as Pannun's principal deputy. He was apprehended alongside two other Khalistani separatists—Jagdeep Singh from New York and Arman Singh from Toronto—during a traffic stop in Ontario on September 19.
The trio faced various firearm-related charges when they appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa. According to Canadian police statements to NDTV, these charges included careless firearm use, possession of weapons for dangerous purposes, and carrying concealed weapons, among other offenses.
Police indicated the arrests were part of an ongoing investigation with potential prison sentences pending formal charges. Nevertheless, Gosal secured bail on September 25.
This represents a pattern rather than an exception regarding Gosal's legal troubles in Canada. Previously arrested in November last year by Peel Regional Police following a violent incident at Brampton's Hindu Sabha Mandir, he was similarly granted immediate bail.
India-Canada diplomatic relations have been strained due to Ottawa's accommodating stance toward Khalistani separatists. While these recent arrests suggest a potentially positive shift under Canada's new administration, the swift bail decisions raise significant questions about the genuine intent behind these enforcement actions.
