2 Detainees Killed, 1 Injured In Sniper Attack On US Immigration Facility

Two detainees lost their lives and another sustained injuries during a sniper attack on Wednesday at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility located in Dallas, Texas, according to official reports.

The assailant, who fired "indiscriminately" at the ICE field office from a neighboring building's rooftop, subsequently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, as stated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

While investigators continue to examine the shooter's exact motivation, FBI officials indicated that the perpetrator appears to have specifically targeted ICE, the primary agency responsible for implementing President Donald Trump's campaign promise to deport millions of undocumented migrants.

"Preliminary evidence we've examined, including ammunition found near the suspected shooter, contains anti-ICE messages," FBI special agent Joe Rothrock explained during a press briefing.

FBI Director Kash Patel shared an image on X showing five unused bullets—one marked with "ANTI-ICE"—and condemned what he described as "despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement."

According to DHS, the shooter "fired indiscriminately at the ICE building, including at a van in the sallyport where the victims were shot."

The attack resulted in two detainee fatalities, while a third remains in critical condition.

Reports from US media indicate that the targeted ICE facility processes detainees before transferring them to long-term detention centers.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Vice President JD Vance both criticized the rhetoric directed at ICE since Trump's return to office.

"For months, we've been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcement before someone was killed," Noem stated on X. "These horrendous killings must serve as a wake-up call to the far-left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences."

"The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop," Vice President JD Vance declared on social media.

ICE's significant role in Trump's immigration enforcement initiatives has generated substantial criticism regarding its deployment of armed, masked agents conducting raids in public spaces targeting undocumented migrants.

Following ICE immigration operations in Los Angeles that triggered unrest and demonstrations earlier this year, Trump deployed National Guard troops and US Marines to the California city.

Another ICE facility in Texas was targeted in July, resulting in a police officer suffering a neck wound.

Ten individuals face charges for their involvement in that attack on the ICE center in Alvarado.

According to court documents, the attackers, dressed in black military-style attire, launched fireworks at the ICE facility and defaced cars and a guard structure with spray-painted messages including "Traitor" and "ICE Pig."

The Alvarado incident occurred shortly before an individual armed with an assault rifle opened fire at a US Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas.

The 27-year-old assailant discharged dozens of rounds from an assault rifle at the Border Patrol annex entrance before being fatally shot.

Two police officers and one Border Patrol employee sustained injuries in that attack.
