Vikram Beri, an Indian-origin millionaire, was recently arrested in the United States after allegedly attempting to set fire to a California winery. During his escape attempt, he deliberately crashed into two parked vehicles.
The 42-year-old entrepreneur confronted staff members who interrupted his arson attempt by throwing a wine bottle at them before fleeing the scene.
According to an official statement published on X, Beri drove his Tesla off an embankment and refused to comply with law enforcement despite their de-escalation efforts. Police ultimately deployed pepperball and spray techniques, which compelled him to "crawl out of the car."
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office reported that Beri was apprehended at Garrod Farms Estate Winery & Stables in Saratoga on December 8 in the afternoon. The incident was documented on social media by the Sheriff's Office, detailing the chaotic scene.
Authorities charged the Menlo Park entrepreneur with assault using a deadly weapon and resisting arrest. Following his booking, he was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation.
Professionally, Beri established BetterLYF Wellness, an online mental health platform, nine years ago. He currently serves as Executive Director of Business Development at Fieldking, a global agricultural equipment manufacturer, and previously worked as a consultant at Deloitte.
His educational background includes mechanical engineering studies at the University of Illinois and an MBA focusing on marketing and strategy from the Indian School of Business.
