A viral image on X platform has sparked new speculation about the relationship between US Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance.
The controversial photograph shows what appears to be JD Vance wearing a white T-shirt with a scowl on his face, while Usha sits across from him with her head down and hand against her face. Social media users quickly circulated the image, suggesting it revealed marital tension between the Second Couple.
One X user shared the image with the comment, "Looks like things are not so good in Republicanistan," while others questioned whether the image might be AI-generated.
Vice President Vance responded sarcastically to the rumors, tweeting: "I always wear an undershirt when I go out in public to have a fight loudly with my wife."
This isn't the first time the Vances have faced public scrutiny regarding their marriage. In October, photographs emerged showing the vice president hugging Erika Kirk, widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, which generated significant online discussion.
Further speculation arose in November and December when Usha attended two events alongside First Lady Melania Trump without wearing her wedding ring. A spokesperson for the Second Lady addressed these observations, explaining that as a busy mother who "does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths," Usha occasionally "forgets her ring sometimes."
The couple, married since 2014, have three children together: sons Ewan and Vivek, and daughter Mirabel.
JD Vance previously faced backlash for comments about his wife's Hindu faith when he expressed hope that she would eventually convert to Christianity. At a Turning Point USA event in Mississippi, he mentioned that while she attends church with him, he hoped she might someday be "moved" by Catholic traditions—remarks that generated significant controversy online.
The vice president has also received criticism when social media users highlighted the contradiction between his characterization of "mass migration" as a threat to the "American Dream" and the fact that his wife is the American-born daughter of Indian immigrants.
