Former UK Doctor Faces 45 Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients Including Minors

A former physician in the United Kingdom is facing numerous charges related to alleged sexual offenses committed against 38 patients under his care, including a child below the age of 13, according to prosecutors.

Nathaniel Spencer, 38, has been charged with "multiple serious sexual offenses allegedly perpetrated against patients while employed as a doctor" in central England, as stated by regional prosecutor Ben Samples on Friday.

The charges include "assault by penetration and sexual assault against a child," Samples noted.

The allegations against Spencer, a Birmingham resident, stem from a police investigation into reported sexual offenses at two regional state-operated hospitals in Stoke-on-Trent and Dudley between 2017 and 2021.

"Our prosecution team has worked extensively to support a thorough and complex investigation conducted by Staffordshire Police, meticulously reviewing all available evidence," Samples explained.

The prosecutors determined "that sufficient evidence exists to proceed with a trial and that criminal proceedings are in the public interest," he added.

Spencer, who served as a resident doctor, previously known in Britain as a junior doctor, faces 15 counts of sexual assault, 17 charges of assault by penetration, and one count of attempted assault by penetration.

Additionally, he is charged with 12 more offenses involving a child under 13 years of age, including sexual assault and assault by penetration.

Neither prosecutors nor police have disclosed the exact number of alleged child victims involved in the case.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on January 20 for his initial court hearing.
