Elon Musk Predicts "Great 12-Year Span" For Donald Trump, JD Vance Rule

Musk's commentary included allusions to his favorite science-fiction literature.
Billionaire Elon Musk has forecast a "great 12-year span" for Republicans, encompassing Donald Trump's second presidential term and subsequently two terms with current Vice President JD Vance at the helm.
The founder of SpaceX and Tesla shared these thoughts during a virtual appearance at a gathering of his former federal cost-reduction team, known as DOGE, which took place in Bastrop, Texas.
The reunion was held on November 22 in a Musk-owned facility with high ceilings near his SpaceX and Boring Co. operations, bringing together approximately 150 past and present DOGE members along with some family. Attendees spoke with Politico anonymously due to the private nature of the event.
Connecting from an unspecified, completely dark location, Musk cited security issues for his remote participation. "I believed I was among the top assassination targets in the country, behind only Trump and Vance," he explained to those present, noting he avoided attending in person because information about the reunion had been leaked.
Though Musk's relationship with Trump has fluctuated, reportedly "up in flames" last June before reconstruction, he has established a close connection with Vice President Vance this year. While Musk has generally reduced his political involvement, his influence and financial contributions could prove significant should Vance pursue the presidency in 2028.
During the event, Musk expressed gratitude to the team for their Washington service, recognizing their sacrifices including leaving more lucrative positions, facing political opposition, and experiencing threats.
In his comprehensive address, Musk discussed topics ranging from civil unrest concerns to the Kardashev scale (a theoretical measure of technological advancement) and the necessity for Mars colonization. He humorously noted that missiles launched from Earth would require six months to reach Mars, providing settlers ample preparation time—a comment that amused attendees.
Musk referenced science-fiction works he appreciates, such as Robert Heinlein's "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress" and Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" series. Senior Musk associates involved with DOGE, including Steve Davis and Anthony Armstrong, attended the gathering, where alumni shared experiences about implementing Musk's cost-reduction directives in Washington.
In a recent podcast conversation with Zerodha co-founder Nikil Kamath, Musk reflected on politics, saying, "Generally I've found that when I get involved in politics, it ends badly."
According to Politico, the reunion seemed focused both on reconnecting with his former team and contemplating a future extending as far as 2032.
