During an appearance on the "WTF is?" podcast hosted by Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, revealed that his partner Shivon Zilis has Indian heritage.
"I'm not sure if you know this, but my partner Shivon is half Indian," Musk shared during the conversation. He further disclosed that one of his sons with Zilis carries the middle name Sekhar, chosen to honor Indian-American physicist and Nobel laureate Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.
When asked about Zilis's background, Musk explained her early life circumstances. "She grew up in Canada. She was given up for adoption when she was a baby. I think her father was like an exchange student at the university or something like that," he stated.
"I'm not sure the exact details, but you know it was kind of thing where I don't know, she was given up for adoption. But she grew up in Canada," the billionaire entrepreneur added.
Professionally, Zilis joined Neuralink, Musk's AI company, in 2017 and currently serves as the Director of Operations and Special Projects. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Philosophy from Yale University.
Musk and Zilis share four children together: twins named Strider and Azure, a daughter called Arcadia, and a son named Seldon Lycurgus.
During the podcast episode, Musk also commented on the significant contributions of Indian talent to America, noting, "America has been an immense beneficiary of talent from India, but that seems to be changing now."
His remarks come at a time when many Indians are facing challenges with their American dream due to increasing visa restrictions and uncertainty in US immigration policies.
