Dona Ganguly Files Police Complaint Against Social Media Harassment and Body Shaming

Dona Ganguly has filed a police complaint after being subjected to abusive and derogatory comments on social media, according to a police officer's statement on Friday.

The accomplished Odissi dancer, who is married to former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, submitted a formal complaint to the Thakurpukur police station, prompting an investigation against unidentified individuals.

A police officer explained, "The abusive posts appeared around Dona Ganguly's performance at the Kolkata Film Festival. Her complaint specifically identified a Facebook page that targeted her."

In her Wednesday evening complaint, Dona alleged that users on the social media page not only "body shamed" her but also insulted her, causing significant damage to her reputation.

"She has characterized these actions as defamatory and indicated that the posts were designed to damage her honor," the officer stated, adding that Dona Ganguly provided evidence including screenshots of the offensive content and a mobile number connected to the Facebook page.

"We are currently working to identify those responsible for the offensive posts. Our team is tracking the posts and investigating the associated mobile number to locate the perpetrators," the officer further explained.
