Bhadohi:
Police recovered the deceased infant's body on Saturday night from a doorless structure elevated approximately five feet from ground level, situated about 200 metres from the highway in Rajapur village, stated Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik.
Following post-mortem examination, officials confirmed the infant was killed by suffocation, Manglik reported.
The child's body showed no signs of external injuries, he added.
Investigators noted that the infant was dressed in clothing suggesting she came from a financially stable family. Authorities also found a white towel near the body.
Manglik indicated that no local residents have identified the child thus far.
Police believe someone traveling along the highway during nighttime may have killed the infant and abandoned the body in the deserted room.
A forensic team has examined the location, and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify those responsible for this act.
The Superintendent of Police confirmed that a comprehensive investigation into the matter continues.
