Bhubaneswar: On Friday morning, crude bombs were hurled by unknown individuals near Kendriya Vidyalaya-3, causing alarm throughout the surrounding area, according to police reports.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Officers from Mancheswar police station promptly arrived at the scene after being alerted and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Bhubaneswar–Cuttack Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh personally inspected the location following the incident.
"Our scientific team has examined the area and gathered evidence samples. We have established two investigative teams to handle this case," Commissioner Singh stated, further noting that initial assessments suggest it was a standard crude bomb likely detonated as an act of mischief.
Police sources indicate that individuals on motorcycles threw the explosive devices at the school entrance, which typically experiences high student traffic during morning hours.
Authorities are currently reviewing multiple CCTV recordings from the vicinity to identify the perpetrators. Additionally, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team has visited the site to assist with the investigation.
"Initial examination indicates it was a conventional crude bomb with minimal explosive force. The motive behind this act will be determined through further investigation," an NIA officer explained.
