Haldwani:

Authorities in Nainital district of Uttarakhand have implemented several measures in Haldwani to prevent traffic congestion during the wedding season, according to an official statement.

Among these regulations, wedding processions will be restricted to a maximum length of 200 meters from the venue to prevent traffic disruptions and ensure orderly conduct, the official explained.

Large lighting fixtures and loud music equipment have been completely prohibited, with any violations resulting in immediate confiscation of the equipment.

These stringent guidelines were issued on Thursday by Nainital Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manjunath TC, following considerable public inconvenience, particularly affecting students and elderly citizens, caused by wedding processions on various Haldwani roads in recent days.

The SSP indicated that police forces will conduct rigorous monitoring of all wedding venues and ensure compliance through coordination meetings with wedding hall operators, DJs, and lighting equipment providers.

According to Manjunath, hand-held lighting fixtures will still be permitted during processions.

The responsibility for enforcing these guidelines lies solely with the local police station and outpost in-charges, the SSP clarified.

He appealed to the public to conduct wedding celebrations in accordance with traffic regulations and to assist in maintaining smooth traffic flow throughout the city.
