New Delhi:
Authorities in Delhi have apprehended a suspect connected to the multiple shooting incidents at comedian Kapil Sharma's Kaps cafe in Canada. The arrested individual, Mansingh Sekhon, a known associate of the Goldy Dhillon gang, was reportedly involved in orchestrating the attacks, according to officials.
The establishment in Surrey experienced at least three separate shooting incidents between July and October. These attacks caused significant alarm, though fortunately no injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
According to investigators, Sekhon allegedly supplied weapons and a vehicle to the perpetrators who executed the initial attack on July 10. Canadian law enforcement has identified the vehicle used in this shooting. Sekhon reportedly left Canada in August and made his way back to India.
His arrest in Delhi followed the detention of an arms trafficking network in the city. The weapons smugglers revealed they had provided firearms to Sekhon, which led police to locate and arrest him.
Authorities recovered a Chinese-manufactured pistol along with ammunition from his possession.
Sekhon is known to be affiliated with gangster Goldy Dhillon and faces numerous criminal charges. Both Goldy Dhillon and another criminal figure, Kuldeep Sidhu—associated with Lawrence Bishnoi's criminal network—have claimed responsibility for the attacks on the cafe.
During the first incident on July 10, approximately 10 shots were fired, targeting the cafe's windows while staff were present inside. Harjit Singh Laddi, connected to a local terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for this attack.
The second incident occurred on August 28, when around 25 shots were fired at the establishment. A recording associated with this attack included a threat that Mumbai would be the next target if Sharma didn't respond to their calls. Following this incident, security measures for Sharma were enhanced.
The most recent attack took place on October 16, with footage showing an assailant extending his arm from a vehicle window and discharging approximately 12 rounds from a handgun.
In response to these incidents, Sharma remarked that each shooting ironically resulted in increased business for his cafe.
