18-Year-Old Woman Dies By Suicide Day After Lover's Murder In UP: Police

A young woman has allegedly taken her own life by consuming a toxic substance in Saharanpur, just one day following her lover's murder, according to police statements on Sunday.

Ankita, aged 18, from the Chilkana area of the district, was discovered deceased at her residence on Saturday. An empty pesticide packet was found nearby, as reported by Additional Superintendent of Police (Dehat) Sagar Jain.

Her 22-year-old boyfriend, Mahil, had been killed the previous day on Friday. Following his death, the man's family accused members of Ankita's family of involvement in the incident and organized a protest demanding immediate action, according to Jain.

Authorities had detained Ankita's two minor brothers for questioning in connection with the case, Jain added.

The young woman's body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials confirmed that further investigation into the matter is continuing.
