Saharanpur:
Two individuals were arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday following an incident where they allegedly assaulted a motorcyclist and dragged him on their vehicle's bonnet for approximately 500 metres, according to officials.
Police reported that a video capturing a road-rage incident between the motorcyclist, identified as Riyasat, and car occupants appeared online. The footage shows the young men assaulting him. The altercation occurred on Wednesday along Nagal Tapri Road in the Dehat Kotwali area.
Additional SP City Vyom Bindal informed PTI that a case was registered following Riyasat's complaint.
Based on received information, authorities arrested the car driver, Raunak, and his associate, Masrik, on Thursday. The vehicle involved has been confiscated as well.
According to police accounts visible in the video, Riyasat was traveling toward Nagal when a car approached from behind, requesting him to move aside.
This led to an intense verbal confrontation during which the motorcyclist allegedly referred to the car as a "tin box," which enraged the occupants who then reportedly attacked him.
Following the assault, when the car occupants attempted to leave the scene, Riyasat positioned himself in front of their vehicle to prevent them from departing. The driver accelerated, causing Riyasat to fall onto the bonnet.
Police added that the car continued at high speed for nearly 500 metres with the biker holding on, before the driver suddenly braked, throwing Riyasat onto the road. The suspects then fled from the location.
