Two young men, Mohit (23) and Umesh Sahu (26), lost their lives when a Thar SUV crashed into an e-rickshaw in Lucknow yesterday evening. The collision also left six others injured. Police have apprehended the SUV driver and confiscated the vehicle following the incident.

Surveillance footage shows the accident occurring at approximately 7:15 pm in the Lucknow Cantonment area. The video reveals the SUV directly colliding with the e-rickshaw traveling from the opposite direction. Reports indicate the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene immediately after the crash. Authorities later traced the driver using the SUV's registration number and have filed charges including rash driving and causing death by negligence.

This incident has once again brought the Thar SUV into negative spotlight. The popular vehicle has repeatedly made headlines for concerning reasons, primarily involving instances of dangerous driving.

In a previous incident last month, a pedestrian was killed in a crash involving a Thar SUV in Delhi's diplomatic enclave, Chanakyapuri. Another disturbing case from July showed footage from Jammu where a Thar hit a scooter and then reversed to deliberately run over the rider, causing serious injuries.
