Brother Murders Sister Over Phone Conversations With Male Friends in Uttar Pradesh

A 22-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by her brother in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, after he objected to her phone conversations with male friends. The accused, Sher Singh, attacked his sister Naina Devi with a sharp weapon when she attempted to retrieve her phone, claiming he was enraged by recordings he discovered and her rejection of marriage proposals. He has been arrested and charged with murder.

The tragic incident took place in the rural village of Itora Gotiya, located in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district.

Police reported on Wednesday that a 22-year-old woman was fatally attacked by her own brother, who had expressed strong disapproval of her telephone communications with male friends.

Authorities identified the victim as Naina Devi from Itora Gotiya village in Shahjahanpur district.

According to Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi, the accused, Sher Singh, stated that his sister maintained phone conversations with numerous men and had rejected several marriage proposals.

"The suspect admitted becoming infuriated after discovering recordings on her mobile device. When she attempted to retrieve her phone, the accused, in an outburst of anger, inflicted a fatal wound to her neck using a sharp-edged weapon," explained the officer.

Dwivedi further noted that Sher Singh, apprehended Tuesday night, has been charged under Section 103(1) (murder) of the BNS and remanded to judicial custody.
