Class 9 Student Commits Suicide After Alleging Molestation by School Principal in Chhattisgarh

In Chhattisgarh's Jashpur district, authorities have detained the principal of a private educational institution after a 15-year-old female student took her own life on Sunday. The Class 9 student left behind a note containing serious allegations of molestation and physical abuse by the principal before hanging herself in her hostel accommodation.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the suicide note contained grave accusations against the principal, specifically mentioning inappropriate physical contact, molestation, and abusive conduct that reportedly drove the teenager to commit suicide. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shahi Mohan Singh stated that the principal was promptly arrested after authorities recovered and examined the suicide note.

The police official further explained, "The student allegedly documented instances of molestation and sexual harassment perpetrated by the school principal, and based on these allegations, the accused is currently undergoing interrogation."

Authorities have officially registered a case and secured the victim's room for investigation. Following completion of post-mortem procedures, the teenager's remains were released to her family members.

The incident has exposed serious irregularities at the private institution, which operates under the Rural Education Committee and provides education from grades 6 through 12. Initial investigations revealed that the victim was residing in an unauthorized hostel facility on school grounds. This hostel accommodated 33 students in total—22 male and 11 female students, including the deceased.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate for the Baghicha region, Pradeep Rathiya, indicated that additional information would be disclosed after a comprehensive investigation into the tragic incident.

In response to the situation, the Jashpur Collector has established a specialized investigative team to examine the circumstances surrounding the student's suicide within the hostel environment. This team has been instructed to investigate all aspects of the case, including the allegations of psychological and physical abuse, and must submit a detailed report within seven days.
