Muskan, who was arrested on March 18 for the horrific murder of her husband, has delivered a baby girl while in custody.
In Meerut, the woman implicated in the gruesome killing of her husband Saurabh Rajput and concealing his remains in a blue drum, successfully gave birth to a baby girl on Monday evening at the local medical college hospital, according to jail officials.
Dr. Viresh Raj Sharma, Senior Jail Superintendent, informed PTI that Muskan was transferred to the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College at approximately 11:30 pm on Sunday when her labor pains intensified.
The head of the Obstetrics Department, Dr. Shakun Singh, reported to PTI that the newborn weighed 2.4 kg and the medical team successfully facilitated a natural delivery. Jail officials confirmed that both the mother and infant are in good health.
The senior jail superintendent mentioned that Muskan's relatives have been notified of the birth. However, no family members have yet visited her at the hospital.
Hospital administration sources stated that Muskan's condition remained stable throughout the day under continuous medical supervision. Given the sensitivity of the case, police presence has been increased around the hospital's main entrance and ward areas.
Officials noted that special security directives have been implemented, and medical records are being regularly updated.
Saurabh was murdered on March 4 at his residence in Indiranagar, Meerut district. Muskan and her alleged accomplice and lover, Sahil Shukla, stand accused of drugging him before fatally stabbing him.
They allegedly dismembered Saurabh's body, removing his head and hands, before concealing the remains in a blue drum filled with cement.
Following the murder, the pair fled to Himachal Pradesh.
Police investigation into this shocking case revealed that Muskan had reportedly been planning the murder since November 2023.
Authorities claimed that Saurabh was killed "not because of occult practices, but because he was an impediment to their romantic relationship."
Both Muskan and Sahil were apprehended on March 18. Before their arrest, Muskan reportedly "confessed" to her family about the crime.
According to police sources, the accused initially intended to place the body in a suitcase and dispose of it. Investigators discovered a bone fragment in the suitcase during their examination.
