The tragic incident has ignited demonstrations from students and parents across the national capital.
New Delhi:
The parents of a 16-year-old Class 10 student who allegedly took his own life on Monday have called for stringent action against those accountable, revealing that their son had been experiencing severe mental distress due to alleged harassment by school teachers.
In an interview with ANI, the father expressed that his son had repeatedly mentioned being troubled by his teachers.
"My son was exceptionally intelligent. He earned numerous medals and certificates. When I last spoke with him, I never imagined he would take such a drastic step. For four months, my son had been telling us that his teachers were causing him significant distress. Currently, many students and parents are protesting to demand justice for my son. Our only wish is for justice for our child," he stated.
The grieving mother also demanded justice, insisting that those responsible should face the most severe consequences.
"My son deserves justice, and those responsible should receive the harshest punishment. He repeatedly told me that his teachers were troubling him extensively. Justice must be served for my son so that no other child has to endure similar circumstances in the future," the mother told ANI.
The suicide has triggered widespread protests among students and parents in Delhi, who are calling for a comprehensive investigation and appropriate measures against the teachers allegedly involved.
On Monday, Delhi Police summoned three additional teachers for questioning regarding the suicide case. Two teachers were already interrogated on Sunday, and several students have been interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Class 10 student, who allegedly died by suicide near Rajendra Place Metro Station on November 18, left a note accusing his school teachers of harassment and urging strict action against them.
According to the FIR filed by Delhi Police on November 18, the student had consistently complained to his parents about the teachers' conduct, but their pleas for intervention were disregarded.
