Chartered Accountant Found Dead In Kolkata Hotel Room, 2 Arrested

A 33-year-old chartered accountant, Adarsh Losalka, was discovered deceased in a hotel room in Kolkata's Kasba area, leading to two arrests on Sunday.

Police investigations revealed that three individuals had checked into Hotel Consulate in the Rajdanga area of Kasba on Friday. The following afternoon, Losalka's body was found on the floor of a fifth-floor room.

According to authorities, the trio rented the room Friday night, but two of them departed late that evening and never returned. The third person, Losalka, was subsequently found dead in the room.

Losalka, who worked as a chartered accountant, was from Dubrajpur in Birbhum. Police are currently interviewing hotel staff and tracking the movements of his companions.

The arrested man and woman appeared before a court on Monday. Police sources indicated they are investigating potential enmity among the three individuals.

Previously, police reported finding blood near Losalka's nose, with his legs bound and strangulation marks visible on his neck, according to IANS.

The initial post-mortem examination indicated that Losalka had consumed alcohol prior to his death. The autopsy revealed approximately 200 grams of food pulp in his stomach along with alcohol traces, suggesting he had eaten and drunk on Friday night. Asphyxiation was determined as the cause of death, with police suspecting he was strangled, resulting in suffocation.
