A case of accidental death has been registered following the incident.
A 13-year-old girl in Maharashtra's Nagpur took her own life on Sunday after her parents declined to provide her with a mobile phone.
The tragedy occurred in the slum area near the Hanuman Temple in Chankapur.
The Class 8 student, who enjoyed playing mobile games, had requested her parents purchase a phone for her. Following their refusal, she became distressed and hanged herself while alone at home.
Upon returning home, the girl's mother and sister discovered her lifeless body.
Authorities have filed an accidental death case, and her remains have been transported to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem examination.
This incident follows similar tragedies in Maharashtra. Earlier this month, a 16-year-old boy studying for police recruitment examinations jumped to his death from a hill in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after his mother refused to buy him a mobile phone.
Last year, a 15-year-old boy died by suicide after his mother denied his birthday request for a mobile phone. In another case from July last year, an 18-year-old in Navi Mumbai took his life when his father purchased an affordable Vivo phone instead of the expensive iPhone costing approximately Rs 1.5 lakh that he had wanted, leading to his depression.
