Man With Disability Thrashed, Urinated Upon By Relatives In Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal:

A disturbing video has emerged on social media platforms from Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, showing a disabled individual being violently attacked and urinated on by his relatives. The 37-second footage, captured near a local petrol pump, has sparked widespread indignation as onlookers simply recorded the horrific incident without attempting to stop the assault.

Following the video going viral, police apprehended the perpetrators, identified as Rajkumar Lovanshi and Govind Lovanshi, on Saturday.

According to reports, the accused and the victim had collectively gone to sell paddy and were returning home after consuming alcohol. An altercation erupted between them, escalating into physical violence. After the victim collapsed to the ground, one of the assailants climbed on top of him and urinated on his face while the other attempted to intervene.

Multiple bystanders recorded the incident but none stepped forward to help.

Sub-divisional police officer Sheela Surana confirmed the arrests, stating: "The victim is related to the accused. They had received payment from selling paddy and consumed alcohol. A disagreement occurred, leading to this deplorable act."

Reports indicate that the video appeared online around 4 pm on Friday, prompting police to take suo motu action.

The incident quickly became politically charged.

Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari strongly criticized the state government, claiming law and order has deteriorated under the current administration.

"Previously, BJP leaders would urinate on people, and now they've instilled the same behavior in everyone," Patwari alleged.

"There is no effective law enforcement here, no functioning Home Ministry or Home Minister. Police are being murdered, attacked, and embroiled in corruption. Repeated incidents of people being urinated upon only happen in Madhya Pradesh."

He called on Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to clarify the responsibilities and accountability of the Home Department.

This latest incident adds to a concerning pattern of similar occurrences across Madhya Pradesh in recent months. In October, a Dalit driver claimed he was abducted, beaten with a plastic pipe, forced to consume alcohol, and subsequently made to drink urine by three individuals.

In Katni, another Dalit man was allegedly urinated upon after protesting illegal mining activities.

In 2023, a widely circulated video depicted a BJP leader urinating on a tribal man, triggering nationwide outrage and political consequences.
