Srinagar:
On Saturday, the State Investigation Agency of Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended a man in Srinagar in relation to a 'white collar' terror module investigation, according to officials.
Officials have identified the arrested individual as Tufail Niyaz Bhat, who resides in the Batamaloo neighborhood of Srinagar. His arrest forms part of the ongoing investigation into the 'white collar' terror module case.
The entire operation came to light after Srinagar Police initiated an investigation into threatening posters aimed at police and security forces that appeared on walls in Bunpora, Nowgam, during mid-October.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Srinagar) Dr G V Sundeep Chakravarthy took personal charge of the investigation, and through CCTV footage analysis, authorities first arrested three suspects: Arif Nisar Dar (alias Sahil), Yasir-ul-Ashraf, and Maqsood Ahmad Dar (alias Shahid).
Interrogation of these individuals led to the arrest of Maulvi Irfan Ahmad, formerly a paramedic who became an Imam, who allegedly provided the posters and was involved in radicalizing doctors.
The investigation trail extended to Al Falah University in Faridabad, resulting in the arrest of Dr Muzzafar Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Sayeed, along with the seizure of 2,900 kg of explosive materials.
According to investigators, the module was operated by a core group of three doctors: Dr Ganaie, Umar Nabi (who drove an explosives-laden car that detonated near the Red Fort on November 10, killing 13 people), and Muzzaffar Rather (currently at large).
