New Delhi:
The investigation into the Delhi blast case has uncovered a sinister plot by a Jaish-linked white-collar terror module to execute explosions across multiple Indian cities. According to sources who spoke to NDTV, one of the terror suspects has admitted that the conspiracy was initiated in 2023, as investigators unraveled the plot behind the 10/11 blast.
At least 13 individuals lost their lives in an explosion involving an i20 car near the Red Fort, which is believed to be an accidental detonation that occurred while planning for a larger series of coordinated attacks.
Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, an associate of suicide bomber Umar Mohammad, revealed during his National Investigation Agency interrogation that he had been preparing for the attacks over a two-year period. Throughout this time, he accumulated explosives, remote devices, and various bomb-making materials, sources indicated.
The doctor was responsible for acquiring urea and ammonium nitrate, a compound capable of exploding when combined with other volatile substances and triggered externally.
Muzammil also purchased 26 quintals of NPK fertilizer for Rs 3 lakh from locations in Gurugram and Nuh, Haryana. Additional explosive components were sourced from Nuh, while electronic parts were acquired from two separate markets in Faridabad. The doctor had also obtained a deep freezer to maintain the chemicals in a stable environment.
His collaborator, Umar, was tasked with processing the fertilizer for explosive applications and arranging chemicals and other necessary ingredients, according to sources. Investigators have also recovered a flour mill that Muzammil used to grind urea for chemical preparation.
Blast Was Self-Funded
Sources revealed that the Delhi blast conspiracy was financed by the terror suspects themselves. Members of the terror cell collected Rs 26 lakh in cash to purchase explosive materials. This amount was subsequently given to Umar, with the suicide bomber personally contributing Rs 2 lakh.
Muzammil provided an additional Rs 5 lakh, while other members of the terror network, Adil Rather and Muzaffar Rather, contributed Rs 8 lakh and Rs 6 lakh respectively. Shaeen Saeed from Lucknow supplied Rs 5 lakh to the operation.
Sources also confirmed that a dispute erupted between Umar and Muzammil at Al Falah University concerning finances. Following this disagreement, Umar gave his Red EcoSport car to Muzammil. The vehicle was subsequently recovered from Faridabad.
While Umar died during the explosion, the remaining suspects are in custody and undergoing interrogation. They were colleagues at the Faridabad-based Al Falah University, which is also being investigated for potential financial improprieties.
AK-47 Deal And Turkey Trip
Muzammil has confessed to purchasing an AK-47 rifle for Rs 6.5 lakh that was later discovered in Adil Rather's locker, according to sources. He also revealed the names of their handlers: his contact was Mansoor while Umar's handler was Hashim. Both operated under the direction of an individual identified as Ibrahim, sources indicated.
Muzammil, Adil, and Muzaffar traveled to Turkey following instructions from Okasa, who has connections to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). They planned to enter Afghanistan, but their handler withdrew after making them wait approximately one week, sources reported.
Officials believe Okasa communicated with Muzammil via Telegram, and their interaction ceased after Muzammil inquired about his handler's identity.
Bomb-Making Tutorials
Sources stated that Umar had studied bomb-making videos and literature online before acquiring the explosive materials.
Investigators believe the evidence suggests a conspiracy involving multiple locations. The accused allegedly planned to execute simultaneous explosions at various sites, according to sources.
The conspiracy is now being thoroughly examined by investigative agencies, with numerous foreign connections and domestic networks emerging during the probe.
