Kerala Mother Collaborates with UK-Based ISIS Supporter to Radicalise 15-Year-Old Son: NIA Investigation Reveals

The Kerala Police have uncovered a disturbing case wherein a mother actively participated in the ISIS indoctrination of her 15-year-old son, collaborating with a UK-based ISIS supporter. According to the FIR accessed by NDTV, the minor was systematically exposed to ISIS propaganda, taught religious intolerance, and encouraged to embrace the terror group's extremist ideology.

Thiruvananthapuram authorities have filed charges under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), naming two primary suspects. The first accused, Anzar, currently residing in Leicester, United Kingdom, is described as an ISIS member who allegedly showed the teenager graphic terror videos and presented the group's ideology as the "greatest path of Islam." Investigators report that Anzar attempted to cultivate religious hostility in the boy.

The second accused is the boy's mother, Fidha Mohammed Ali, who allegedly supported and facilitated this radicalisation process. Police documents indicate she worked in coordination with Anzar, with investigators believing both individuals jointly influenced and attempted to indoctrinate the minor into extremist ideology.

Kerala Police suspect this case may indicate a broader network at play. Sources suggest sleeper cells linked to the terror organization could be operating throughout parts of the state. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has initiated a preliminary inquiry and is preparing to fully take over the investigation. Once jurisdiction transfers, the Kochi NIA office will register a fresh FIR and assume control of the case.

Adding significance to this investigation is Anzar's family history. NDTV previously reported that his brother, Siddhiqul, was convicted in the 2016 Kanakamala ISIS conspiracy case, where eight individuals were charge-sheeted for allegedly plotting attacks in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Sources indicated that while Anzar was under surveillance during the 2016 investigation, he avoided charges as he was living in Ukraine at that time. A retired NIA officer told NDTV that investigators may now pursue Interpol assistance to facilitate Anzar's deportation.

The current investigation has prompted authorities to re-examine all previously identified suspects from the 2016 case to determine if dormant networks have been reactivated. NIA officials confirm that every individual previously charged or named in the Kanakamala investigation is being monitored again as part of this new assessment.
