On Camera, Man Travels 175 km To Reconcile With Wife, Then Slits Her Throat

A man traveled approximately 175 km to reconcile with his estranged wife, only to slit her throat in public. This shocking incident occurred in Odisha's Balasore, leaving the woman in critical condition.

Police reports indicate that the attack happened Thursday afternoon when the suspect, identified as Sheikh Amjad, journeyed from Cuttack to Balasore to meet his wife. The couple had been living separately due to ongoing marital conflicts.

During their interaction, Amjad suddenly produced a knife and attacked his wife, cutting her throat on the public road. A bystander recorded the horrific assault on a mobile phone, and the footage has subsequently spread across social media platforms. The video captures Amjad speaking to the woman, occasionally grabbing her face, before dragging her along the roadside. It then shows him pulling her by the hair and violently slashing her throat as shocked witnesses screamed in horror.

Local residents rushed to assist the injured woman, transporting her to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital. Medical staff managed to stabilize her condition, but due to the severity of her injuries, transferred her to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where she remains in a critical state.

Witnesses at the scene successfully overpowered Amjad after the attack, preventing his escape, and subsequently handed him over to law enforcement authorities.

Police have confirmed that further investigation into the case is currently underway.
