Violent confrontations erupted in Krishnanagar, West Bengal during the idol immersion ceremony following Kartik Puja celebrations. Footage revealed significant damage to a government bus passenger shelter as tensions escalated between opposing groups.
The altercation began when two local factions clashed, quickly deteriorating into a full-scale conflict with participants hurling bricks, sticks, and various projectiles. During this violent exchange, the bus passenger waiting area adjacent to Krishnanagar Collegiate School suffered extensive vandalism.
Law enforcement personnel promptly arrived at the location and successfully restored order. However, authorities have yet to detain any individuals connected to the incident.
This disturbance during the Kartik Puja idol immersion comes approximately one month after similar disorder disrupted the main procession route during Jagaddhatri Puja celebrations, necessitating police intervention through lathi charge to disperse crowds.
Historical patterns indicate that numerous processions in Krishnanagar have been marred by unfortunate incidents over recent years.
Police officials have provided assurances that they will maintain heightened vigilance to prevent such disturbances from recurring in Krishnanagar in the immediate future.
