28-Year-Old Man Arrested for Rape and Murder of 19-Year-Old Woman in Uttar Pradesh

In Etah district, Uttar Pradesh, authorities have detained a man accused of sexually assaulting and killing a 19-year-old woman, according to police statements released Friday. The young woman's partially clothed body was discovered in a drainage ditch near her village two days earlier.

Upon finding the body, family members alleged that the victim had been sexually assaulted and murdered before being discarded in the drain. This prompted law enforcement to initiate an investigation.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shyam Narayan Singh and Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shwetabh Pandey instructed investigators to resolve the case promptly.

Following these directives, local Sakeet police apprehended a 28-year-old male resident from the same village as the deceased.

According to the SSP's statement, the intoxicated suspect enticed the young woman to a mustard field, claiming he needed assistance carrying firewood. There, he sexually assaulted her and, when she resisted, strangled her to death.

Police officials confirmed that the accused has confessed during interrogation. Legal procedures have been completed, and the suspect has been remanded to jail custody.
