Bengaluru:

During the Bengaluru Tech Summit on Thursday, Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla made a humorous observation about the city's notorious traffic congestion.

Group Captain Shukla serves as an Indian Air Force officer and test pilot. He is among the four astronauts chosen and prepared for Gaganyaan, India's inaugural manned space mission scheduled for 2027.

Addressing a full audience at the Tech Summit, Shukla humorously noted that traveling from Marathahalli to the event venue required three times more time than his planned presentation.

"I've come from across Bengaluru, from Marathahalli. The time I spent in transit was triple what I'll spend delivering this presentation to you. That demonstrates my level of commitment," he remarked.

In his closing address, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge responded to the comment saying, "Shubhanshu Shukla mentioned that traveling from space to Bengaluru would be easier than going from Marathahalli to this location." Kharge assured that the government would work to prevent such delays in the future.

The Future Makers Conclave, one of the most popular sessions at this year's Bengaluru Tech Summit, attracted thousands of attendees and featured an impressive roster of creators, innovators, founders, athletes and thought leaders.

The speaker lineup included Shukla, entrepreneur-author Ankur Warikoo, Zepto co-founder Kaivalya Vohra, mind reader Suhani Shah, six-time Grand Slam champion Sania Mirza, and India wicketkeeper-batter and ICC World Cup champion Richa Ghosh.

The 28th Bengaluru Tech Summit, themed 'Futurise' and organized by Karnataka Government's Department of Electronics, IT & BT, concluded at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
