As Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited Chamarajanagar, he emphasized that his position in power is "secure".
Chamarajanagar:
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday refuted rumors regarding leadership change in the state, describing such speculation as an "unnecessary debate" and noting that these rumors emerged following discussions about a potential cabinet reshuffle.
The Chief Minister clarified that decisions about the cabinet reshuffle would be made by senior party leadership, pointing out that of the total 34 ministerial positions, two posts remain vacant and would be filled during the upcoming reshuffle.
When questioned about whether he would complete a full 5-year term as CM, Siddaramaiah responded, "This is an unnecessary debate. The discussion about changing the Chief Minister only emerged after mentions of a possible cabinet reshuffle after two and a half years. The party leadership needs to decide on the cabinet reshuffle. Out of the total 34 ministerial posts, two positions remain vacant. These vacant ministerial positions will be filled during the cabinet reshuffle."
During his visit to Chamarajanagar, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asserted that his position of power is "secure" and that genuine efforts are underway to deliver on promises made to Karnataka's citizens.
There exists a persistent superstition that any serving Chief Minister who visits the town of Chamarajanagar will lose their position shortly thereafter.
CM Siddaramaiah rejected this superstition, stating that he doesn't believe in such myths and remains confident about the security of his position.
"My power is secure both now and in the future. We are making sincere efforts to fulfill the promises made to the people. The belief that visiting Chamarajanagar will cause me to lose power is merely superstition. I visit Chamarajanagar precisely because I do not believe in superstitions and rumors. I view all districts of Karnataka equally and make visits to all regions. The notion that coming to Chamarajanagar will result in loss of power is just superstition. I visited here to dispel that myth, and I maintain that my position remains secure now and will continue to be so," the CM elaborated.
This is not Siddaramaiah's first visit to this town. During his previous tenure as Chief Minister from 2013-2018, he visited Chamarajanagar multiple times, effectively challenging the superstition.
