Valparai:

A Class IX student from a government school who reportedly attempted suicide approximately one month ago has passed away at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, according to police officials.

The 14-year-old female student was initially taken to Valparai Government Hospital with critical burn injuries on October 10.

As her medical condition deteriorated, she was subsequently transferred to medical facilities in Pollachi and eventually to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday evening.

Initially, the student's family reportedly declined to register a case, indicating that the incident was accidental. "We received information that her clothing caught fire by accident," police officials stated.

However, following her death, the family has now asserted that she died by suicide, allegedly resulting from continuous harassment by educators at her school, police authorities added.

The family has released video evidence reportedly recorded by the girl and has approached Valparai police station to file charges against the teachers and the educational institution.

In the recorded video, the girl allegedly made serious accusations against three specific teachers.

The student had been attending Rottikadai Government High School and resided in Valparai with her parents and younger sibling.

"We are thoroughly investigating the situation. We have also obtained a video statement from the girl, and it's worth noting that she never mentioned any of the allegations currently being brought forward," police officials commented.
