SIA Raids Kashmir Times Office: Authorities Allege Anti-National Activities and Recover Weapons

The Jammu & Kashmir Police's State Investigation Agency conducted raids on the Kashmir Times office, recovering weapons and filing an FIR against the publication and its Executive Editor Anuradha Bhasin for alleged anti-national activities, threatening India's sovereignty, and promoting secessionism. The historic newspaper, established in 1954, has yet to respond to these serious allegations.

The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the Jammu & Kashmir Police conducted raids on the Kashmir Times office in Jammu on Thursday morning, alleging the newspaper's involvement in anti-national activities.

Police sources reported that during the ongoing searches, authorities recovered Ak-47 cartridges, pistol rounds, and three grenade levers.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Kashmir Times, accusing the publication of spreading disaffection, glorifying secessionism, and threatening India's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as that of the Union Territory.

The FIR also names Anuradha Bhasin, the Executive Editor of Kashmir Times.

According to sources, the investigation aims to examine the newspaper's alleged connections and activities that potentially "threaten the sovereignty" of India.

At the time of reporting, Kashmir Times had not issued any statement regarding the raids.

Founded by Ved Bhasin, Kashmir Times stands as one of Jammu & Kashmir's oldest and most prominent newspapers. It began as a weekly publication in 1954 before transitioning to a daily newspaper in 1964.
