"I will deliver on my job," declared Rahul Gandhi.
New Delhi:
Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, intensified his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission of India on Saturday. He reiterated his allegations of "vote chori" (vote theft) while announcing that his party would soon release what he termed a "hydrogen bomb" of evidence.
The Congress leader asserted that his party possessed "open-and-shut proof" of systematic manipulation in the electoral process.
"We're preparing to reveal a hydrogen bomb that will completely devastate the current narrative. We have conclusive proof supporting our claims. I don't make statements without evidence - we have 100% confirmation of various irregularities that will soon be made public," Gandhi stated emphatically.
When journalists pressed him about whether this "hydrogen bomb" specifically related to the Prime Minister's Varanasi constituency, Gandhi evaded giving a direct answer. "That's for you to speculate about. I will fulfill my responsibilities," he responded.
Gandhi's latest statements build upon his previous allegations regarding fraudulent manipulation of voter rolls. He referenced alleged evidence of mass voter deletions and additions in specific constituencies, citing examples from Mahadevpura and Aland in Karnataka.
"We've demonstrated it in Mahadevpura and Aland. We will present evidence so convincingly that no one in India will doubt that Narendra Modi has engaged in vote theft to win the election," he remarked.
The Congress leader has consistently accused Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar of protecting those involved in electoral fraud. On Saturday, he referenced an ongoing investigation in Karnataka concerning attempts to delete over 6,000 names from electoral rolls in Aland constituency, claiming this proves the Election Commission's compromised credibility.
"A CID investigation is currently underway in Karnataka. The CID has specifically requested information about phone numbers used in vote manipulation. Gyanesh Kumar is the CEC that Karnataka's CID is investigating. There could be no more serious indictment of the CEC than this. This isn't merely my assertion; it's factual," Gandhi claimed.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has vigorously rejected Gandhi's allegations. Senior leader and Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday accused the Congress leader of misleading the public and attempting to foment unrest, particularly among younger voters.
During a press conference in Patna, Prasad criticized Gandhi's recent posts on the social media platform X, where he stated, "Desh ke yuva, desh ke students, and desh ke Gen Z will save the Constitution, democracy, and vote theft. I always stand with them. Jai Hind."
Prasad countered: "What message is Rahul Gandhi trying to convey through such posts? Is he attempting to incite violence and create disorder in the country? His actions contradict democracy, the Constitution, and national interests. I strongly condemn this unfortunate and unacceptable rhetoric."
The BJP leader further contended that Gandhi had made serious accusations against CEC Gyanesh Kumar without verifying chronological facts. "Rahul Gandhi has leveled serious allegations against the Election Commission without proper research. Gandhi accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, who was appointed just months ago, regarding a case from 2023. How could he possibly be responsible?" Prasad questioned.
