Police have reported that no formal complaint has been lodged regarding the tragic incident of the boy's death.
A four-year-old child lost his life after reportedly swallowing a small toy that came with a chips packet in Odisha's Kandhamal district, according to police statements made on Wednesday.
The tragedy occurred in Musumahapada village within the Brahmani police jurisdiction in Daringbadi block. The victim was identified as Bigil Pradhan, whose father is Ranjit Pradhan.
According to family accounts, the boy's father had purchased a packet of chips for his son. Upon opening the package, they discovered a miniature plastic toy gun included with the snack. The child was playing with this toy while his parents were working nearby on Tuesday.
When the boy suddenly began crying, his parents attempted to remove the object but were unsuccessful. They rushed him to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Daringbadi, approximately 30 kilometers from their village. Unfortunately, doctors pronounced the child dead upon arrival.
Dr. Jakesh Samantaray, the medical officer in charge at the CHC, stated that the father informed them that the toy from the chips packet had obstructed the child's airway, resulting in this tragic outcome.
Police officials have indicated that no formal complaint has yet been filed in connection with the boy's death.
