Bengaluru:
In a disturbing case from Karnataka, a man has been accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting his minor sister-in-law, resulting in her pregnancy. The accused, Mohammad Sab from Yadgir district, is currently evading authorities and has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the police report, the 16-year-old victim was routinely harassed by Sab whenever his wife was absent from their residence. The first assault allegedly occurred on July 21 at approximately 1 pm when the teenager was alone at home.
Investigators report that the accused continued to assault the minor repeatedly over a two-month period, always timing the attacks for when his wife was away. The victim was reportedly threatened with death if she revealed the abuse to anyone.
The crime came to light when the teenager complained of abdominal pain and mentioned missed menstrual cycles to her parents. They promptly took her to a government hospital, where medical examination confirmed she was four months pregnant.
As required by law in cases involving minors, the hospital immediately issued a Medico-Legal Case (MLC) and notified law enforcement authorities.
Based on statements from the survivor and a formal complaint filed by her mother, police have registered charges against Mohammad Sab for rape of a minor and criminal intimidation.
