Mohan Bhagwat stated that RSS was established not to oppose anyone but to focus on character development.

Guwahati:

During an interaction with prominent individuals in Guwahati on Tuesday, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat expressed that anyone who takes "pride in Bharat" qualifies as a Hindu.

Bhagwat emphasized that 'Hindu' extends beyond religious connotations, representing a civilizational identity rooted in thousands of years of cultural heritage.

"Bharat and Hindu are synonymous. India doesn't require an official declaration to be recognized as a 'Hindu rashtra'. Its civilizational ethos already embodies this reality," he stated.

The RSS leader clarified that the organization wasn't formed to oppose or harm others but to concentrate on character-building and contribute toward establishing India as a global leader.

"The methodology to unite Bharat amidst diversity is called the RSS," Bhagwat explained.

Addressing "demographic changes" concerns in Assam, he advocated for confidence, vigilance, and strong attachment to one's land and identity.

Bhagwat discussed several issues including illegal infiltration, the necessity for a balanced population policy with a suggested three-child norm for Hindus, and the importance of resisting divisive religious conversions.

He also encouraged responsible social media usage, particularly among younger generations.

Describing the Northeast as an exemplary demonstration of India's unity in diversity, Bhagwat noted that figures such as Lachit Borphukan and Srimanta Shankardeva hold national significance beyond their regional importance, serving as inspiration for all Indians.

Bhagwat called upon all societal segments to collaborate selflessly toward nation-building.

Having arrived on Monday for a three-day visit, he is scheduled to address a youth gathering on Wednesday.

His itinerary includes traveling to Manipur on November 20.
