Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, a suspect in the ricin terror plot recently apprehended by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), sustained injuries during an altercation with three undertrial inmates inside Ahmedabad's high-security Sabarmati Central Prison on Tuesday, according to an official statement.

Following the incident, the prison administration has requested local police to file an FIR regarding the matter, confirmed Jail Superintendent Gaurav Agrawal.

Officials have confirmed that Saiyed is not in any critical condition.

"The fight erupted between Saiyed and three other inmates for reasons that remain unclear. After sustaining injuries, Saiyed was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for examination before being returned to the correctional facility," explained Agrawal.

"We have already notified local law enforcement about the incident, and a formal complaint will be registered shortly," the IPS officer added.

Saiyed, an MBBS doctor from Hyderabad, was among three terror suspects detained by the Gujarat ATS on November 8. They were allegedly conspiring to execute a significant terrorist attack using weapons and the deadly poison 'ricin'.

During their investigation into the alleged ricin chemical poison terror scheme, ATS officials searched Saiyed's Hyderabad residence and discovered unidentified chemicals and raw materials.

After completing their police remand period, the three arrested individuals were placed in judicial custody at the Sabarmati Central Prison by a local court several days ago, according to an official source.
