The incident occurred at Gerita village in Vijapur taluka on September 16, but gained public attention three days later when a video of the ordeal went viral on social media platforms.

Following the victim's complaint, Vijapur police filed a First Information Report against four individuals: her sister-in-law Jamuna Thakor, Jamuna's husband Manubhai Thakor, and two other accomplices, as confirmed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Dineshsinh Chauhan.

The victim is currently receiving medical treatment at a Vijapur hospital while the accused individuals remain at large.

The circulated video depicts a woman and three others compelling the victim to immerse her hands in a container of boiling oil. The footage shows her briefly dipping her fingers before quickly withdrawing them due to the severe burns.

"The victim's sister-in-law harbored suspicions about her fidelity to her husband. Consequently, Jamuna, along with her husband and two other men, decided to subject her to this ordeal. They claimed she would not sustain any burns if she had been faithful to her husband," explained Chauhan.

Authorities are actively working to apprehend the accused individuals.
