Engineer Murdered and Buried in House After Rs 40 Lakh Loan Dispute: Two Repeat Offenders Arrested

Police reported that upon Srinath's arrival in Kuppam, he was fatally struck on the head with a hammer.

Police arrested two repeat offenders on Tuesday in a cross-state investigation, revealing the murder of 30-year-old engineer Srinath. The victim, reported missing from Bengaluru, Karnataka, was discovered buried inside a residence in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh.

Srinath, originally from Kuppam in Chittoor district, had been residing with his wife and child in Bengaluru's Anekal area. He had loaned approximately Rs 40 lakh to his relative, Prabhakar, who had promised to "double the money."

According to police, when Srinath persistently requested his money back over a three-month period, Prabhakar devised a murder plan with his associate Jagadish.

Investigators stated that Prabhakar lured Srinath to Kuppam with promises of returning the money. Upon Srinath's arrival, he was struck with a hammer and killed. The perpetrators then dug a pit inside the house and buried the body.

After Srinath failed to return for two days, his wife filed a missing person report at Attibele Police Station.

Initially, Prabhakar maintained his innocence and even suggested police examine mobile records. However, as the investigation progressed, authorities discovered that both Prabhakar and Jagadish had previously committed murders.

Police revealed that Prabhakar had previously murdered his wife's friend over financial disputes, while Jagadish had killed his girlfriend in a separate case.

During questioning, both men confessed to the crime, leading police to the burial site in Kuppam.

Authorities have recovered the body and the investigation continues.
