Bengaluru:

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) received an unusual threat via email, wherein an individual warned about bombing a metro station if his "ex-wife is tortured".

The threatening email was delivered to the official BMRCL mail address from a Gmail account at 11:25 PM on November 13.

The message stated: "If ever I come to know that your metro employees are torturing mentally my past divorced wife Padmini after duty hours, be careful, one of your metro stations gets blasted... I am also a terrorist-like PATRIOTIC person against Kannadigas."

Following this incident, a senior BMRCL official submitted a police complaint, which led to case registration. Authorities are now investigating to identify and locate the sender.

In a separate but related development, authorities recently identified a female IT professional, who had been detained in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as the person responsible for numerous bomb threat emails sent to Bengaluru schools.

The investigation commenced after a public school in Bengaluru received a bomb threat on June 14. As additional fake bomb alerts emerged throughout Bengaluru, investigators traced these threats to Rene Joshilda, a software engineer.

She allegedly sent multiple threatening emails using her lover's name as revenge after he refused to marry her.

She was subsequently brought to Bengaluru for questioning on October 28. During interrogation, she admitted to sending fake bomb threats to institutions across multiple states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Kerala, Bihar, Telangana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.

According to police reports, she utilized virtual private networks (VPNs) and virtual mobile numbers generated through an app to create numerous WhatsApp accounts, effectively concealing her digital trail while issuing these threats.
