A self-recorded and undated video of Dr. Umar Mohammad alias Umar-un-Nabi, the bomber behind the deadly blast near Delhi's Red Fort that claimed 13 lives, has emerged, offering insight into his mindset.
In this video, which provides a glimpse into the thought process of the Delhi bomber, he discusses suicide bombing and "martyrdom" in articulate English with an accent.
"One of the very misunderstood concepts is the concept of what has been labeled as suicide bombing. It is a martyrdom operation... known in Islam. Now, there are multiple contradictions; there are multiple arguments that have been brought against it," the young doctor explains.
He elaborates that a "martyrdom" operation involves a person who presumes they will die at a specific place and time. Umar further states that no one can predict exactly when or where they will die, claiming it will happen if destined, and urges, "Don't fear death."
Though suicide is forbidden in Islam, Umar appears to justify suicide bombing as an act of "martyrdom" in the recording.
The video reveals a calm, composed individual with in-depth thoughts on suicide bombing and martyrdom, indicating complete radicalization. This represents a concerning new face of terrorism in India: educated, radicalized, and calculative.
This footage also confirms that the Delhi car blast was carefully planned, contradicting speculation that it might have been triggered accidentally during explosives transportation.
The investigation into the Delhi blast conspiracy has revealed that terrorist organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed are recruiting highly educated professionals, including doctors. Earlier this month, following a major explosives recovery in Faridabad, Jammu and Kashmir police announced they had dismantled an inter-state and transnational terror module connected to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
According to authorities, "The investigation has revealed a white collar terror ecosystem, involving radicalized professionals and students in contact with foreign handlers, operating from Pakistan and other countries. The group has been using encrypted channels for indoctrination, coordination, fund movement and logistics. Funds were raised through professional and academic networks, under the guise of social/charitable causes."
