The Al-Falah University campus spans across 70 acres in Faridabad.
The Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at 25 locations connected to Al-Falah University this morning, including the institution's office in Okhla. This intensified investigation focuses on the university's funding after three doctors employed by the institution were identified as suspects in the Delhi blast case.
Following government directives, the central agency has ordered a forensic audit of the university's financial records. The Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing has also joined the investigation. While the National Investigation Agency (NIA) handles the blast case investigation, the Enforcement Directorate and Economic Offences Wing are examining the university's funding sources and operational practices.
The university currently faces two legal cases after the University Grants Commission and National Assessment and Accreditation Council raised concerns about its accreditation claims. These cases involve charges of cheating and forgery.
The Association of Indian Universities has suspended the university's membership, stating that it "does not appear to be in good standing".
Established in 2014 and recognized by the University Grants Commission in 2015, Al-Falah University operates under the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, formed in 1995. The trust initially launched an engineering college in 1997. Today, the university offers programs across various disciplines including medical science, engineering and technology, humanities, computer science, and education.
The university attracted public attention after authorities discovered approximately 2,900 kg of explosive materials in rooms rented by Muzammil, a doctor associated with Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. Another doctor from the medical college, Dr. Shaheen, was arrested after assault rifles and other weapons were found in her vehicle. Shortly after these discoveries, a car exploded near the Red Fort, resulting in 13 fatalities and over 20 injuries. The driver, Dr. Umar, was also employed at Al-Falah.
Professor Dr. Bhupinder Kaur Anand, Vice Chancellor of the university, previously stated that the management condemns these "unfortunate developments" and clarified, "We have also learnt that two of our doctors have been detained by the Investigating Agencies. We wish to make it clear that the University has no connection with the said persons apart from them being working in their official capacities with the University."
The university has also denounced what it describes as unfounded reports intended to damage its reputation. "The University also notes with deep concern that certain online platforms are circulating baseless and misleading stories with the clear intent of maligning the reputation and goodwill of the University. We strongly condemn and categorically deny all such false and defamatory allegations," the statement concluded.
